Library
The
Library of the College is one of the oldest in India and it is the core
of the educational life of the college. It includes Arts-Science-Commerce
and Theology sections as well as the `Carey Library' which itself has
about 10,500 titles in 101 different languages. In the Carey Library
some books published as early as in the 16th century are preserved.
In the Theology Department of the College the students and staff come
from all over India as from well as abroad and the Library is frequently
used by them for regular studies and research work.
The
students of Arts-Science-Commerce use the A.S.C. section of the Library
which is provided with a spacious Free Access Reading Hall. The efficient
staff members help the students. From a separate `Home Issue' counter,
books are lent out to students for a fortnight. The `Text Book' and
`Book Bank' sections of the Library issue text books on long term loan
to needy and deserving students.
At
the beginning of the session, Library tickets are issued to the students
on production of their Fee Receipt Books. Books are issued on production
of the tickets. The tickets should be returned by the students when
leaving the College. Without the clearance certificate of the Library
no student is allowed to appear in the final examination or leave the
College. The Students are responsible for the loss or misuse of their
tickets and in such cases will be liable to pay the requisite fines.
A library committee, with student members, is also there for improvement
of library and its service. A Complaint Box is installed to be used
by the students for redressal.
The
students are expected to strictly follow the Library rules notified
on the notice board. The Librarians and other members of staff are always
ready to extend their helping hand to the students.
